Welcome to the World of Aquaria
25 Jan
Sorry for the break in posting. I may be moving in the next month. That’s good news, but I’m definitely not looking forward to moving my tanks. The move isn’t far, but breaking everything down is a pain.
Well, it’s been just about two weeks since I got my Olive Nerite Snails. I wanted to see if these little guys could live up to their fabled algae eating skills. I let my 20 gallon tank get some algae built up before the guys arrived. I put a single snail into the 20 gallon tank. Check out the before and after shots.
Before. There are plants, rocks, sand, and a fish tank behind there somewhere.
After. All four walls of the tank look similar.
Although not spotless, you can see that a significant amount of algae has been eaten by a single snail. I wouldn’t expect to see perfectly through the glass just because I have a snail in the tank, just like I would expect to see through a glass plate perfectly after eating spaghetti with marinara sauce on it. I would have to say that these snails live up to their image of having voracious algae appetites, and they are also apparently prolific lovers.
With that, I’ll leave you with a little different point of view of my tank.
