Welcome to the World of Aquaria

I started taking a photo class just for my personal growth. This class requires me to start using a camera with more control over settings. I’m still fumbling along as it’s only been a week, but I’m hoping that at some point in the six weeks, this photography taking will all click, no pun intended. Until then, here are some of the pictures of my fish. Your comments and especially tips are welcomed.

I have a lot of pictures of this guy, because he rests for periods of time.

Bright and sunny pictures are easy.

Fish meeting.

Resting on driftwood.

Resting on rocks. This guy is so lazy.

The photos look good. The biggest aid to taking fish pictures is having an external flash. With the flash, you place it above the tank, and shoot at speeds that are fast enough to avoid blurry fish. If you can’t do that, the next best thing is to put as many lights that will fit on top of the tank. Try to shoot at F8.0+ so that your depth of field will be big enough to have the whole fish in focus from head to tail. Of course, to be able to do that, you need lots of light. Good luck, and have fun shooting!
